Cathy starting sewing at the age of 9 sitting on a blanket in the front yard with a pile of fabric scraps and a needle and thread she borrowed from her mother’s sewing basket. Barbie was about to get a new wardrobe! Shortly after, she was gifted with her first sewing machine; it was a birthday gift from her grandmother. For the next several years Cathy happily sewed clothing, graduating from Barbie clothes to her own clothes then as she got married and had children she sewed all their clothes, curtains, pillows and many other household items. It was a very natural thing for Cathy to see a McCall’s pattern in the fabric store for a quilt and decide to make it for her parents 25th Anniversary. Little did she know that was the start of a lifelong passion for quilting. Cathy has been quilting now for over 40 years and has taught quilting for the past 17 years. When she is not quilting (a rare occurrence) Cathy enjoys traveling and spending time with her children and grandsons! Cathy is thrilled to be partnering with her daughter Paula and fulfilling a dream to own a Quilting Studio. We hope you will join us as we begin this adventure at Night Owl Quilting Studio!
I grew up watching my mother sewing and spent countless hours in her sewing room. She made us kids everything from Halloween costumes, baby doll clothes and later on prom and wedding dresses! When I was a little girl she taught me how to do cross stich on plastic canvas, embroidery and even convinced me to try my hand at quilting! I have always admired her passion and creativity for the art, but mostly the way she inspires everyone around her. I am so excited to have this opportunity to start a business with my mother and make her dream a reality!
We are excited to officially welcome Denise to our team!
Denise has been quilting for 40 years and retired last year from her corporate job. She is loving this new found freedom to do more quilting! She is a member of the Amoskeag Quilters Guild and is looking forward to meeting many more like-minded quilters.
Denise will be in the shop on Wednesdays helping to run the long arm to keep customer quilts moving along. On Fridays she will be facilitating Patchwork Parliament (open sewing sessions) and working on samples and kits for the shop!
Please help us give Denise a warm welcome and stop by to say hi!
